Frankie Gaytan

Fourth generation horseman Frankie Gaytan, originally from Jalisco, Mexico, began Gaytan Performance Horses after two decades of experience working under some of the most renowned cutting horse trainers in the industry. At the age of 15, Frankie started working horses in Mexico, where he discovered the passion that would lead to a lifelong commitment to quality horsemanship.

Frankie worked under the mentoring of Hall of Fame rider Ascension Banuelos for 8 years, where he learned the skills and attention to detail required in starting two year old prospects. He later went on to work for the late Bill Freeman, one of the most respected professionals and legendary horseman in the cutting arena. Frankie excelled as an assistant trainer of Freeman's, as well as for the successful Tommy Manion. Knowing the importance of experience and knowledge, Frankie invested the early years of his horse training career so that he would be prepared to begin his own training program in Texas.

Specializing in two year old prospects, he is respected for solid foundational training that prepares colts to excel in a variety of disciplines. He takes pride in helping each horse and rider reach their fullest potential. Since beginning his career, several prodigy of the training program have gone on to be money earners, world title holders, and demand bids upwards of $100,000.

"We are always open for business and in addition to starting your prospects and tuning up your finished cutters, I am able to help novice riders reach their goals based on personal guidance and experience."

Offering lessons, training from first ride to finished horses, cutting training, and problem solving, trainer Frankie Gaytan handles every horse with care and ensures they will go on to a successful future in any discipline.

“I met Frankie Gaytan about ten years ago. Over the years I’ve sent many horses to him to be started under saddle as well as for behavior correction on the ones that were to waspy for me to ride. I trust Frankie to do what’s best for the horse and end with a successful result. I most admire his ability to soften a horse’s mouth and settle their mind. He also teaches them to travel with a smooth stride and a big stop. Frankie works hard and his love for horses is evident. I believe anyone will be as pleased as I have been”.

“I have known Frankie for about 4 years. I have sent him multiple horses from starting under saddle, to refresher course. Never have I doubted the training or care that they were receiving. I know that when I send a horse to him I will have a soft push button horse. You cannot go wrong with sending your horse to Gaytan performance Horses”.

I respect Frankie's commitment to excellence and his regard for the horse's softness, responsiveness, and athletic performance. I am above and beyond pleased with the results I have seen from Frankie's training and I trust him fully with my colts. You won't find another trainer with more integrity, work ethic, or quality than Mr. Gaytan".
